Outlander star Sam Heughan has see his odds slashed in the race to cast the next James Bond.
Daniel Craig will play 007 for the last time in Bond 25, which has just started filming in Norway.
Heughan was reportedly called up by producer Barbara Broccoli and asked to audition for the role.
Mail on Sunday reported a source's claims that the star was in the running despite losing out to Craig when he auditioned before along with Henry Cavill.
The source also said the Bond team were keen to cast a Scottish actor to hark back to the agent's roots when Sean Connery debuted the role.
