They have only recently got to settle down once more but now a new spanner could be thrown into the works for Jamie and Claire Fraser in the fifth season of Outlander.
New images revealed by the Evening Times have shown actress Caitriona Balfe filming as Claire Fraser with her 1960s style hair-do in the streets of Paisley in the Lowlands of Scotland.
But hang on a minute, wasn't Claire last seen in North Carolina in the 1800s and settling down on Fraser's Ridge with husband Jamie and daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton)?
Well, there are two options now for Outlander fans to ponder on.
Could Claire have been forced to travel through time to the future once more, separating her from her beloved Jamie once again?
Or could the series be showing us a flashback to the period in which Claire and Jamie were separated and Claire was raising Brianna with her husband Frank Randall ( Tobias Menzies)?
It wouldn't be the first time that the series veered away from the events of Diana Gabaldon's novels.
